Welland LED maker energized to hire

Early last fall, Energizer — the company with a mechanical drum-pounding bunny for a mascot — gave CRS management a call with an "exciting opportunity," said Al Hussey, the company's chief operating officer.

Energizer, the Missouri-based company known for making batteries that "keep going and going and going," wanted to expand its home LED lighting business, and the company wanted the best LED light manufacturer it could find.

Welland's CRS Electronics came highly recommended, Hussey said.

"They'd heard of us from a couple of sources. We happen to be highly recommended by the (U.S.) department of energy as a best-in-class producer. And also one of the industry-leading LED manufacturers recommended us to Energizer."

After a few months of "very positive" negotiations, CRS signed a five-year contract with Energizer in February.

This week CRS is announcing an agreement has been reached with a national North American retailer to sell those products, packaged in Energizer labels, early next year.

In the months ahead, the shop on Hagar St. will be extremely busy producing more than 25,000 LED bulbs in the third quarter of this year to stock the shelves of that yet-to-be-identified retailer.Shopatron's retail-integrated led strip eCommerce solution is a great fit for a service-focused company like OceanLED Contractual agreements prevent CRS from now identifying it.

In a media release, CRS president and founder Scott Riesebosch said the retailer the companies are working with is "another highly-regarded,With the help of led lights both a local electrician and a lighting consultant, she has recently installed a $5,000 LED lighting quality partner for CRS."
