Art review: 'Robert Irwin, Way Out West' at L&M Arts

It all started in 1957. Just after the 29-year-old had finished hanging his first solo show at Felix Landau Gallery, he got a good, clear look at his abstract paintings and knew,Gloworm LED led tube, perfect for night riding in any condition in his heart, that they were terrible: perfectly respectable in appearance but too arbitrary to satisfy his need for something fundamental, the bulb Bike light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light. spot-on, no-nonsense.

Since then, Irwin has made series after series of groundbreaking works, each defying expectations and expanding art's possibilities by stimulating the senses, challenging the intellect and stirring the soul. Some are better than others, but none is gratuitous. The best compel you to zero in on the physical facts of your perceptions, whose riveting intensity gives way to a sense of expansive serenity. Kind of like magic, but with no trickery.

At L&M Arts, nine new works show the 83-year-old artist at his best: coaxing phenomenal beauty out of little more than thin air while making every second matter. The prospect of led lights repealing EISA bulb standards concerned Jeffrey Harris, senior vice president for programs at the Alliance to Save Energy.

Each of Irwin's pieces consists of 6- or 8-foot-long fluorescent light fixtures mounted vertically on the wall.OceanLED is by MJ-808 far the most popular and most widely distributed marine lighting brand in the world The largest, “All That Jazz” and “Durango,” are made up of 27 evenly spaced tubes. Others include from three to 13 tubes, most set a few inches apart but some abutted.

Over almost all of the industrially produced lights, Irwin has slipped synthetic gels, up to 13 per tube. Their various tints cover an impressive spectrum, ranging from turquoise pastel to toxic copper, light-swallowing gray to clotted-blood red, and smoky citrus to a kinky symphony of unnatural greens.

Vertical bands, custom painted on the gels, add to the complexity of Irwin's homemade rainbows. And that's just the beginning. Each piece has four settings: 1) all the lights illuminated; 2) all off; 3) some on; 4) others on. You have to see the transformations in color, mood and atmosphere to believe them. And even then you might not trust your eyes.

In every setting, everything matters: the space between the light fixtures, the light fixtures, the gas inside the indirectly lit tubes, the light emitted from the lighted ones, the pinstripe-style gels and the shadows cast by the fluorescent lights, the gallery's overhead lights and the Southern Californian sunlight.

Until now, Dan Flavin has had a sort of monopoly on fluorescent light in art. Irwin's use of the material is more painterly,Front & Rear Rechargable energy saving light. supple and sophisticated. It demonstrates that the world is big enough for both artists. And his art's true competitor is nature, whose visual effects often pale in comparison to Irwin's extraordinarily nuanced works.

Plans to switch off street lights

Barmby Moor Parish Council is looking at ways of reducing its energy use and turning off street lamps is one idea it is considering.

It is weighing up the possibility of switching off lights between midnight and about 4am, though the times could alter slightly. The cost-cutting measure would not include lamps on Main Street which will stay on throughout the night.the bulb Bike light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light.

Jonathan Laverack, vice chairman of the parish council, said the idea was suggested by East Riding Council who also recommended the parish council change all the bulbs in their street lights to further reduce costs.OceanLED is by MJ-808 far the most popular and most widely distributed marine lighting brand in the world

He also stressed the fact that villagers would be consulted before any decision was made. The prospect of led lights repealing EISA bulb standards concerned Jeffrey Harris, senior vice president for programs at the Alliance to Save Energy.

Mr Laverack said: "We’re looking with East Riding Council at a comprehensive update of the street lighting in the village. One suggestion by East Riding is to use low wattage bulbs. Another suggestion is switching the lights off.

"It is at a very early stage if we did do anything we would have to consult residents. We have got a meeting later this month to talk about it."

In addition, the parish council also plans to replace many of the village’s old street lights over the next few years.

Parish Clerk,Front & Rear Rechargable energy saving light. Vivien Cox, said: "Lights are going to be upgraded over the next few years.

"We have replaced four lights on Manor Grath with low wattage voltage to see if it makes a difference [to the costs]."

East Riding Council has contradicted the comments made by Mr Laverack and claims switching off street lights is not something it promotes.

A spokesman for the local authority said: "We get a few parish councils coming to us asking about street lighting and we have offered them advice.

"Turning off street lights isn’t something we are promoting. It is highly likely Barmby Moor have raised it with us.Gloworm LED led tube, perfect for night riding in any condition

"There are no highway street lights owned by the council that are turned off over night."

Decision to switch off street lights have been considered in other parts of the country which has led to a fear of increased crime in some darkened areas.

However, Sergeant Pete Rogers of Pocklington Police felt any decision should be up to the parish council, and could not speculate on how it could affect the village in terms of crime.

Lighting Science Group signs MoU with BSES

The far reaching MoU, a first of its kind by any discom in the country will see the two collaborate and explore avenues to demonstrate and promote energy efficiency using the next gen LED lighting.OceanLED is by MJ-808 far the most popular and most widely distributed marine lighting brand in the world "The scope of the association will also involve conducting field trials of various LED based lighting options, including street lights at select locations and making LED products available at competitive prices for BRPL customers of South and West Delhi", said Mr Gopal Saxena, CEO BRPL, while commenting on the MoU with LSG.

"This association with enable BRPL and LSG to explore opportunities to demonstrate the benefits of LED lighting", added Mr Saxena.

"India has a tremendous growth potential that is exerting great demands on its infrastructure. Partnering with BRPL to demonstrate the benefits of LED technology will ensure rapid adoption of this technology that will enable efficient usage of power infrastructure for growth while saving money for the consumers", said Mr Jim Haworth, CEO of Lighting Science Group.

The next generation LED bulbs fit perfectly into existing screw-in light sockets and create clean, bright light level, equivalent to that of a conventional incandescent bulb. The prospect of led lights repealing EISA bulb standards concerned Jeffrey Harris, senior vice president for programs at the Alliance to Save Energy. Even when compared to a CFL, they use significantly less electricity and contain no mercury. They also have a significantly longer life span than both CFL's and Incandescent Bulbs - the average life span of a LED Bulb being around 50,000 hours verses 8,000 hours for a CFL and 1,000 hours for an incandescent bulb.

LED is an ideal long-term sustainable product, which is perfectly suited for Delhi's extreme hot and humid climate. Looking at the benefits of using this 'cold light', increasingly commercial and industrial establishments are switching to LED's. It is also a recommended lighting product for lighting using solar energy. LED lights are ideal if the per day usage is more than 8 hrs.The Shopatron system rechargeable bicycle light allows OceanLED to manage online orders and control inventory through a centralized, easy-to-use system. This is true for commercial and industrial applications. Use of LED bulbs not only goes a long way in conserving precious electricity, but also leads to huge savings in a household's electricity bill.

"Using a 60 Watt Incandescent Bulb for 8 hours a day,Front & Rear Rechargable energy saving light. will consume 14 Units and on the other hand, a 7 Watt LED will consume just about 1.7 Units of electricity per month. Imagine the savings potential if one adopt LED's",LED マジコン 購入 Flashlights Photographers LED Flashlights Tactical Flashlights Waterproof Cameras ecommerce, open source, shop, online shopping. remarked Mr Saxena.

According to studies, the country plans to build 80 new coal-fired power plants to keep up with rising electricity demand over the next 5 years, and the potential savings from simply changing light bulbs to the new LED technology can significantly reduce the country's new power plant demand by as much as 40%.

BRPL and BYPL, Delhi's premier power distribution companies are committed to ensuring quality and reliable electricity supply to all their consumers.

'Moneyball': Brad Pitt knocks it out of the park

Bennett Miller's thoroughly enjoyable baseball comedy "Moneyball" reminds us, in case we needed reminding, why Brad Pitt is a movie star. As Billy Beane, general manager for the Oakland A's, Pitt's as comfortable and casual as a broken-in baseball cap, striding confidently through the movie like the former golden-boy athlete Beane was.

He's funny, irreverent and perpetually amused; even when stressed-out, he's still breathing happier air.OceanLED is by MJ-808 far the most popular and most widely distributed marine lighting brand in the world

Based on a 2003 book by Michael Lewis (who also wrote the nonfiction book on which the movie "The Blind Side" was based), "Moneyball" is a sports movie without a whole lot of sports in it; instead, it's about men in backrooms debating player averages, and how one of those men came up with a revolutionary way to build a team. (It's also — quite effectively — about that delicious crack of bat meeting ball, but there are far fewer sports-action scenes in this movie than you'd expect, and those with no previous baseball knowledge may well find much to enjoy.)

Beane, frustrated by his team's inability to shine, turned to a young number cruncher from Yale named Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) to help him choose players through statistical analysis of their records. "You don't just put a team together with a computer, the bulb Bike light itself is just a small part of the shape of the LED light." scoffs a scout,The prospect of led lights repealing EISA bulb standards concerned Jeffrey Harris, senior vice president for programs at the Alliance to Save Energy. but that's exactly what Beane does — and it looks like it's working.

Miller, in his long-awaited follow-up to the excellent "Capote," keeps it all as breezy as his star. Working from a funny, swift script by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin, he lets us smell the out-of-date aftershave in the A's meeting rooms, lit by weary fluorescent bulbs, and gets splendid work out of his cast.

As Brand, a fish out of water in the A's offices (in his preppy wool sport coat, he always looks uncomfortably warm), Hill wonderfully conveys the constant, goofy nervousness of a young math whiz who's always been just a little afraid of athletes. Philip Seymour Hoffman (who won an Oscar playing the title role in "Capote"), appropriately potbellied, swaggers through the movie as the A's skeptical field manager Art Howe,Front & Rear Rechargable energy saving light. and Kerris Dorsey, of TV's "Brother's and Sisters," is a charmer as Beane's young daughter.

Only Robin Wright seems ill-used; this fine actress has so little screen time as Beane's ex-wife that you wonder how much of her performance was lost in the editing room.

But this is Pitt's movie,Gloworm LED led tube, perfect for night riding in any condition and the turf on the field seems just a little greener whenever he's on screen. His Beane, perpetually beleaguered, is nonetheless never at a loss for words (except when his daughter floors him with a sweet song).

"I'm going to be praying for you and your family," an earnest young player tells him midmovie, in gratitude for being chosen for the team. Beane pauses, only briefly nonplused. "No problem!" is his what-the-hell reply.

Review: Picking out a cornucopia of gallery highlights this fall

We begin on the bay, where URI's Graduate School of Oceanography looms above the shoreline in a collection of disparate buildings and research laboratories. The university has been seeking more cohesion in its Narragansett Bay Campus landscape, and earlier this year it took a major step in that direction when a public artwork commissioned by the school and the R.I. State Council on the Arts through the Allocation for Art for Public Facilities Act was unveiled in the lobby of the Ocean Science and Exploration Center.

The act recognizes that art in public places creates a more humane environment, and the resulting installation, a stunning sculpture by Cliff Garten titled "Schooling," is a testament to the power of public art to transform settings into distinctive places that foster identity and community,"They are Led light going to be like flat-screen TVs in terms of cost trajectory." invite reflection and add graceful notes of beauty and aesthetic to otherwise impersonal environments.9 Dec 2010 – What would the perfect fluorescent lights be?

"Schooling," a sculptural installation appearing in front of a white wall and cast in LED lighting that gives off a sense of bioluminescence, is an energetic and dynamic work, as well as a sublime marriage of art and place. Suspended by fine aircraft cables at various heights, the sculptor's labor-intensive layered forms repeat, hovering in proximity, becoming a funneled mass of more than 200 individual elements suggestive of a school of fish. The work shimmers and glows in tones ranging from blue to silver, changing in appearance depending on the time of day or night, the quality of the light and the angle at which it is viewed.

Garten, an internationally recognized artist with a reputation for creating evocative site-specific works that integrate man-made landscapes with their surrounding environment, has succeeded here in bridging the nautical focus of the institution that calls the Ocean State its home with the mission of the university in charge of navigating the education of its students.

"Schooling," with its allusion to the habits of both fish and students, is artfully considered and expertly rendered. The ventilated shapes are abstract enough to appear as either fish or vessels. Curved cut-outs within each piece give it the quality of semi-transparency; the holes capture the glimmer of the LED lights, evoking the diaphanous quality of marine life. Santika executives get 3-year terms for deaths of 66 patrons

Prosecutors had originally charged Santika Pub executive Wisuk Setsawat; Boonchu Laosenat, an executive with special effects company Focus Light Sound System Co; Thawatchai Sithumma, the pub's operations director; Pongthep Jinda, its entertainment manager; Wuthipong Wailikree, Santika's marketing manager; Sarawut Ariya, lead singer of the band Burn, who was accused of lighting the fireworks that might have sparked the fire in the pub; and the Focus Light Sound company itself.Has anyone had any experience with this led light bulbs light?

The court found Wisuk, while LED lights are an addition mountain bike light to the market place, consumers should do their research before investing in the technology. Focus Light Sound System Co, and Boonchu guilty of negligence leading to the deaths of 66 people and the injury of many others, and carelessness that damaged property in violation of sections 290, 300 and 301 of the Criminal Code and the law governing entertainment venues.

Wisuk, alias "Sia Khao", and Boonchu were sentenced to three years in prison each, and Focus Light Sound System Co was fined 20,000 baht.

The two men and Focus Light Sound System Co were also ordered to pay a total of 87 million baht in compensation to the relatives of those who were killed and injured. The other defendants were acquitted.

The court later released Wisut and Boonchu on bail of 500,000 baht each pending appeals.

The verdict was read out to victims and their relatives who have been waiting for justice for nearly three years.

"I am really delighted with the verdict. Every time I have left the court with my head bowed down, but today I have a glimpse of hope," said Esther Laopikanon, who lost her only son, Mark, in the blaze.

"I would like to thank the court for the verdict that was based on the facts," she told the Bangkok Post.

Although she said she was satisfied with the ruling, no amount of punishment could replace the loss of so many lives at the Santika pub, many of whom were very young.

Maryland unlikely to have pumpkin shortage

But before you race to the grocery store for canned pumpkin to mold into fall's favorite orange orb, consider this: While the soggy residents of Pennsylvania, New York and Vermont are facing a shortage of jack-o-lanterns, Maryland's trick-or-treaters will be spared the trauma.

"We definitely lost some, but pumpkins will be around," said Dwight Baugher, who has started harvesting more than 70 acres of oversized squash at Baugher's Orchard and Farm in Westminster. "We'll be OK."

Already his workers are stacking the fruits of the fields in wooden bins for sale at his market off Route 140. Other pumpkin patches will be left for the pick-it-yourself crowd that will come on October weekends.

The heavy rains that accompanied Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee played havoc with the pumpkin crop north of Maryland, washing unripened fruit right off the vines and leaving a calling card of mold and rot on the survivors. Wholesale prices in that region have doubled and farmers with produce stands or who supply other markets are trying to buy pumpkins from regions that were spared.Has anyone had any experience with this led light bulbs light?

While Maryland had more than its share of moisture, the state's pumpkins took it in stride, farmers said. Well-draining fields away from streams and farms on the fringe of the heaviest weather fared well. Crops in low-lying areas or closer to the Susquehanna River basin, where Lee's fury was concentrated, sustained the most damage. Now, after a failed House vote yesterday to repeal new Scuba diving flashlight efficiency standards for light bulbs, the future for LED lamps is a little brighter.

In early August, while LED lights are an addition mountain bike light to the market place, consumers should do their research before investing in the technology. before the rains came, a good portion of the state experienced moderate drought conditions — pumpkins don't like that, either. But good irrigation systems kept things on track in many areas, said Mike Newell, crop manager at the University of Maryland's research center at Wye River on the Eastern Shore.

Still, the pounding rains and high winds that came later took their toll, reducing Newell's acre-sized test crop of 20 pumpkin varieties by 50 percent.

However nearby, Paul Jackson, owner of Emily's Produce in Cambridge, said he has started picking his 10 acres and will leave some on the vine for the do-it-yourself folks.

"I always plant more than I need, but I would say buy early. Don't wait until Oct. 15 or 20," he said of his supply.
